Painter Bridgewater NJ

Local painting for Bridgewater homes

Belle Mead Painting is a local contractor run by Greg Hayes. We have been painting homes and washing exteriors around Somerset County since 2006. Bridgewater sits a little north of our Belle Mead base, up along the Route 22 and Route 28 corridor, but it is well within the area we cover and we work there regularly.

Bridgewater is a big, mostly suburban township, and the housing shows it: split levels and ranches from the postwar builds, larger colonials in the newer developments, plus townhouse and condo communities off Route 202-206. Each of those needs a slightly different approach, and after two decades of local work we know how the siding, trim and older woodwork in this part of New Jersey behave through a full winter.

Outside

Exterior painting in Bridgewater

Bridgewater homes take the full range of New Jersey weather, from summer humidity off the Raritan to freeze and thaw cycles all winter. On exteriors we soft wash the surface first so paint goes onto something clean instead of onto mold, mildew and chalky residue. That single step is usually the difference between a coat that holds for years and one that starts peeling in two summers.

We paint siding, trim, shutters, doors, porches, railings and garages, and we spot prime bare wood before the finish coats. If a deck or fence needs attention, we can refinish it at the same time so the whole outside of the house matches.

  • Soft wash before paint where it is needed
  • Scrape, sand, prime and caulk
  • Bare wood spot primed before finish coats
  • Trim, shutters, doors and railings

Interior painting in Bridgewater

Walls, ceilings, trim, doors, stairwells and cabinets. We do full wall prep, patch and sand before painting, and we remove wallpaper when a room needs it. Furniture is moved or covered and floors are protected the whole time, then we clean up at the end of every day.

Benjamin Moore® is what we put on the wall. If fumes are a concern because of kids, pets or someone working from home, ask for the lower VOC lines. If you are stuck on colors, we offer color consulting so you are not guessing from a chip in the store.

Around town

The Bridgewater we work in

Bridgewater covers a lot of ground, and we get calls from all of it. We paint homes in the neighborhoods around Bridgewater Commons and the Route 22 retail corridor, out toward Martinsville and the wooded lots near the Washington Valley and Chimney Rock reservation, and down in the flatter developments near Finderne and the Raritan River. Streets around Adamsville, Green Knoll and the Somerset County Vocational area are all part of the same run.

A lot of Bridgewater housing dates from the growth years of the 1960s through the 1980s, which means aluminum and vinyl siding, cedar trim and older wood windows that benefit from proper prep and glazing rather than a quick recoat. The newer colonials off Country Club Road and near the golf courses tend to have more trim detail and taller walls, so we bring the right access for the two storey foyers and gable ends. Whatever the era, the goal is the same: a clean, even finish that still looks right several winters from now.

Because we are based just south in Belle Mead, getting up to Bridgewater is a short trip, and we treat it like any other town on our list rather than an out of the way job. Tell us the neighborhood when you call and we can usually give you a sense of scheduling on the spot.

Questions

Bridgewater painting questions

Do you actually cover Bridgewater?

Yes. We are based in Belle Mead, a little south, but Bridgewater is well within our service area and we work there regularly. It is a short trip up the Route 206 and Route 202 corridor, so we schedule it like any other local town.

How long does a painting job take?

A single room is usually one to two days. A full interior runs about a week depending on size and how much prep the walls need. Exteriors depend on the weather and the condition of the siding, and we give you a realistic window when we quote.

Can you paint the taller foyers and gable ends on the newer colonials?

Yes. Many Bridgewater colonials have two storey foyers and high gable ends. We bring the right ladders and lift access to reach them safely and cut the lines by hand.

Do you wash the house before painting the exterior?

Where it is needed, yes. Paint does not bond to mold, mildew or chalky residue. We soft wash first so the surface is clean and the coat lasts.

Can you handle small repairs before you paint?

Yes. We do window glazing, rotten trim, drywall patches and other small home repairs, so we can fix the surface before we paint it rather than painting over the problem.
